Times Square New Year's Eve Ball

Did you know that the bright ball in New York's Times Square that descends to bring in each new year is a work of glass art?

Since 2000, the New Year's Eve ball has been a six foot diameter geodesic sphere made from over 500 crystal triangles designed and manufactured by Waterford Crystal.

Each year 72 of the glass panels – each about 5 inches across – are replaced with new designs.
