Reverse Foil Engraving

A decorative technique in which gold or silver leaf is applied to the back side of a piece of glass, engraved, and protected by varnish, metal foil, or another piece of glass.

Reverse foil engraving is also referred to as verre églomisé (after Jean-Baptiste Globy who was widely know for using this technique) and glass gilding.
